Digha is a nice visiting place and seaside resort town in Purba Medinipur district in West Bengal.It is situated at the northern end of the Bay of Bengal.It is a shallow sand beacth and most popular sea resort in West Bengal.Digha is located 183km from Kolkata & Howrah via Mecheda.The best time of visiting to Digha is March to July as weather stays all most pleasant in this time.But people and visitors are coming here in all seasons throughout the year.
Old Digha is situated at a distance of 2km from New Digha.Old Digha Main gate is also called as Alankarpur Digha.In new Digha,there is a place as named Sindhur Tara just near Amrabati Park,a Church Science Centre established by the National Council of Science Museums.Marine Aquarium and Research Centre was established in 1989 during the Seventh Five Year Plan.Lord Shiva Temple is situated at a distance of 8km from Digha at Chandaneswar,broder of Bengal and Odisha.Every year in month of Chaitra,a grand fairs are observed near Lord Shiva Temple and nearly half millon people and pilgrims from defferent States of India visit the Temple.There are so many Bus and Train servives to come to Digha from Kolkata,Howrah and Salt Lake.Suficient hotels and Lodges are available here to stay some days on leave with family like Hotel Santiniketan,Sea Hawk,Dolphin Holel, Hotel Rajita, Digha Hotel, Hotel Sea Coast and Hotel Rubina etc.
