Visit to Puri,Lord Jagannath Temple,Odisha

Jagannath Temple is a sacred and famous Vaishnava  Hindu Mandir of Lord Jagannath on the eastern coast of India in district Puri in the State of Odisha.It was said that Supreme lord Sri Krishna,once,visited this Temple of Lord Jagannath in past.The major construction of Jagannath temple was initiated by King Chodagangadeva and it was completed by his grandson Anangabhimadeva in tate 12th century.The temple is famous for its annual Rath Yatra in every year.Three saints as named Adi Shankaracharya,Ramadan & Ramanujan were closely associated with the temple.Emar Matha was establised by Ramanuja near this temple.The Govardhan Mutt is the seat of one of the four Shankaracharyas and it is located near the temple.Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabu,came here in past,to stay in Puri for many years.
The God Jagannath,Balabhadra and the Goddess Subhadra constituted the main trinity of deities and worshiped at the temple.Sudarshan Chakra,deities of Madanmohan,Sridevi and Vishwadhatri are also placed on the Ratnavedi.The temple icons of Jagannath,Balabhadra,Subhadra and Sudarshan Chakra are made from sacred Neem logs known as Daru.There are so many visiting places in Puri other than Jagannath Temple like Konark Sun Temple,Sakhigopal temple,Gundicha Temple,Varahi Deula Temple,Baliharachandi Temple,Sudarshan Craft Museum,Nrendra Sarovara,Shee Chaitanya Gaudiya Math,Jonha Falls,Dassam Falls,Hudru Falls,Panch Gagh Falls.
Konark Sun Temple is a World Heritage Monument,35km distance from Puri.The entrance ticket is Rs5/ for a an adult Indian and $5 for Foreigner.
Sakhigopal Temple is situated at a distance of 17km from Puri and it is known as Satyabadi.It is famous for the shrine of Lord Krishna.It was built during 19th century.King Prataprudra Deba brought the Krishna image here after his victory over Kanchi(South India).The life-size inage is standing with a flute and Radha is standing on the left side.The images are very beautiful and impressive.The temple is just like a miniature temple of Lord Jagannath.Sakhigopal is also important as it was one of the educational cenres during 19th and 20th centuries.
Raghurajpur is situated at a distance of 12km from Puri on Bhubaneswar Road in 203 National high way.This is a Heritage Craft Village of Orissa.Sri Jagannath Temple is situated at 3km from Puri Railway Station and Puri is about 510km away from Kolkata,WB and it has very good Railway communication from all States of India.There are so many hotels and lodges near Sri Jagannath Temple for visitors,devotees and tourists as named Puri Beach Resort,MJ Residency,Pramod etc.
